SONG COLLAGE

At some point in the mid-1980's I started playing two records at the same time, to help lubricate the collage and drawing workflow, and found how this allowed openings in the ensuing mess for amazing sonic moments. Recordings ensued, along with the emergence of a musical alter ego, DJ Spooky Powers. Disks and tape, which were much like paper collage in their primitive limits, are now digital mixes. Here is a small sample taken from the eighty or so song-collage mixes in the Spooky Powers "catalog":
