Like a colored blackout, these paintings begin with a photocollage, printed on either canvas or paper, providing the basic chassis (or “underpainting”) of the thing. Paint (typically acrylic paint) invades the base image, sometimes augmenting/altering it, sometimes eventually obliterating it.
